the truth about content
When people talk about digital marketing they like to go right to social media, search analytics and data tracking. Many prefer to obsess over website design or the implosion of mobile technologies. They’ll discuss email strategies and how that continues to be the most effective form of digital marketing in the United States.
All are important, but the truth is that content is the cornerstone of any good digital marketing strategy.
without good content you have nothing to share
With nothing to share there is no data to collect and analyze and inform. Without a base of good content, digital tools become useless. As Jay Baer so succinctly put it, “Content is fire and social media is gasoline.”
Content is also the foundation for any good SEO strategy. Good content helps you get found. Google’s increasingly sophisticated algorithms reward good content with higher rankings on search engine results pages.
good content is storytelling with purpose
It’s written with an end purpose, but it’s designed to draw one in instead of pushing out it’s message. It’s relevant, useful, engaging and often entertaining. It’s designed with one’s target audience in mind.
good content does not happen by accident
I learned how to deliver a powerful and engaging message using a limited number of words when I was selling country music radio in the 80’s and had to write Ad copy for my client. I use that ability to write in the voice of the brand to deliver content that engages and that converts both online and offline.
